Sephora F&F Haul, Pt. I

Yes, you read right. This is only Part I of my F&F haul. As I predicted, I made another impulse order on the Sephora website. I reasoned that since I was going to pay full price for the items later on, I might as well get them when they're on sale. I'll do another post about the second mini-haul.

For my first order, I surprisingly only got 3 things!

-: Shiseido - The Makeup Mascara Base: One of my all-time favorites. This product adds volume, lengthens, and really helps hold the curl. My makeup stash is not complete without this. I even ordered another one in the Part II haul.

-: Too Faced - Shadow Insurance: This eyeshadow base has gotten a lot of rave reviews. Although I'm partial to UD's Primer Potion, I'm getting fed up with the packaging and how there's so much wasted product left in the bottle. Too Faced's packaging seems more appealing and I heard that it's easier to blend shadows using this product. We'll see how they compare.

-: NARS - Blush/Bronzer Duo: I may be one of a handful of people on earth who did not find NARS' Orgasm blush the best thing ever to grace women's cheeks. I bought the full-size blush a while ago and tried it on once. I either didn't like how it looked that one time, or the price made me feel too guilty to keep it. In the end, I ended up returning it thinking I was making the biggest makeup mistake ever. Now, only a few months later, I decided to give it a second chance...this time with a bronzer (Laguna, another cult favorite) included. Let's hope round 2 fares better!

I can't say much about the samples. I picked them randomly and have not yet opened them. The Harajuku Lovers fragrance sampler looks fun though. Maybe I'll try that first. Well, guess that's all folks!

PS. I may be switching over to blogspot. If you frequent here, make sure I know your e-mail address (contact me via Facebook or Myspace) so I know to invite you if/when I do switch over. :)

What's in my Sephora shopping cart?

Ok. Ever since I found out about the Sephora Friends and Family sale (starts Nov. 6th!), I've been on Sephora's website trying to decide what I want. I know I'm going a little...er...waaay overboard, but hopefully I can cut this list down when it comes time to actually submit my order. Here we go:

Clockwise from top left: 1. Diorshow Mascara ($24) 2. Shiseido Mascara Base ($22) 3. Urban Decay Book of Shadows Palette ($45) 4. Too Faced Shadow Insurance ($17)

And here's the "yeah-right-keep-dreaming" product in my shopping cart.

Clarisonic Skincare Brush ($195)

Here are a few other things I've got my eyes on but are not currently in my shopping cart.

More to come later...? I sincerely hope not.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils (Travel Size Set of 5)

I'm a huge fan of colored eyeliner. I practically collect them. I like to use them when I'm too lazy to use eyeshadow but I still want a pop of color. However, I've had a hard time finding pencils that last the whole day. When I ventured into Sephora the other day, the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils caught my eye. A few beauty bloggers have raved about them and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. When I saw that they came in sets of 5, I knew I had to get one--Velvet Rope. Besides, I couldn't seem to leave the store without buying something.

I've used a few of the pencils for the past couple of days and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Here's a more detailed review:

Price: $29

For a set of 5, the price isn't bad. That comes out to about $6 per pencil! The full-size pencils are priced at $16 a pop. Since I hardly ever use all of a  full-size pencil, I wasn't too bothered that the pencils in the set I purchased were only travel size. The sales representatives I've spoken to about these pencils, both in Sephora and ULTA, agree that this set is definitely a steal.

Colors: 5
The Velvet Rope set features Yeyo (metallic white), 1999 (plum with teeny gold glitter), the #1 best-selling black Eye Pencil, Zero (zealous black), Bourbon (brown with teeny gold glitter), and Stash (dark green/gold). The colors are vibrant and are either shimmery or infused with microglitter. The microglitter isn't bothersome at all, at least not to me. I chose this set over VIP because they are more wearable and not over-the-top. Plus, they make it so easy to do a smokey eye!

If you like bold and bright colors, I recommend the VIP set. The VIP set features the #1 best-selling black Eye Pencil, Zero (zealous black), Lucky (brilliant deep copper), Covet (peacock green), Electric (bright aquamarine), and Lust (plush purple).

Application and Lasting power: very creamy, last longer than most
These pencils glide on easily with no tugging, most likely because they are made with moisturizing ingredients. They are surprisingly blendable, at least for the first few minutes after application. After that there's no smudging or budging. I used them for my Halloween look, as shown below (the white and the black pencil), and when I got home at 4am, they were still exactly where I applied them (I even used both the white and black on my waterline, though not heavily)! Nice! Although they are waterproof, they come off easily enough with makeup remover or a makeup wipe. Some of the microglitter didn't come off with the makeup wipe, but it did come off when I used face wash.

Bottom line: these are a steal!
I used to think that only MAC (Powerpoint) and Revlon (Colorstay) had the most trustworthy eyeliners out there, but Urban Decay proved me wrong. I think the price is great and is totally worth it for the variety you're getting. Highly recommended!

Let me know if you have any questions! Here are a few pictures and swatches.

I have a problem...

So I went to the mall today to return something and to pick up a few accessories for tomorrow (Halloween!). Since I was already there, I had to stop by the MAC counter at Nordstrom. I wanted to check out the Passions of Red collection as well as the brush sets. I already have a bajillion brushes, but I'm always wanting new brushes...thankfully none of the brush sets were to die for. I moved on to the eyeshadow palettes and I was particularly excited to check out Infatuating Rose (cool eyes palette with plums and purples). I was sorely disappointed. I hated the packaging! Personally I found it gaudy and tacky, especially with that big ruby in the front. In addition, none of the palettes really impressed me. Some of the palettes had colors I already had in other palettes or they were repromotes. So I passed...yes, I walked away from a MAC counter without buying anything. Gasp!

So what did I do? I headed for Sephora. Haha. This is why the title of this post reads "I have a problem..." because I do. I can't seem to leave the mall without buying a makeup or beauty product. I walked around Sephora for a good 20 minutes and I couldn't find anything I wanted or needed. I started to panic. Well, it was a mix of panic and relief...maybe I finally had everything I wanted/needed? Then I saw Urban Decay's travel-sized 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils (Velvet Rope). I've heard a lot of good things about these pencils and I did "need" colored eyeliners that stayed put. Here's what Sephora has to say about this set:

Created with moisturizing ingredients, 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils are creamy, blendable, and waterproof. The Velvet Rope set features Yeyo (metallic white), 1999 (plum with teeny gold glitter), the #1 best-selling black Eye Pencil, Zero (zealous black), Bourbon (brown with teeny gold glitter), and Stash (dark green/gold).

I nabbed it and got outta there to finish my errands. I'll do a detailed review later on. I'll test them out tomorrow to see how well they hold up after a night out. As for my "problem," well, I guess I still have it. I'm hoping that at some point I will just buy things because I really do need them, and not because I feel like I do or because I want to buy them on a whim. Someday...right? All right, that's all folks!
